Colorado Mental Health Institute
in Pueblo Colorado-Public Art Project
I am currently working on my first public art project for Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo Colorado. I am creating 5 Large paintings based on the 5 elements of Feng Shui, Fire, Metal, Earth, Water and Wood. Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese Concept that aims we live in harmony with our surroundings. I am using these five elements as a building block for a well-balanced reception area that will be part of the hospitals new wing. The 5 elements are universal and will have an energetic essence each with their own flavor. Chi-Energy. Each painting will be harmonious in size 10-14 ft long so that each painting and element has equal force. Each painting will be placed accordingly in the direction relevant to the element it represents.
Lift The Label Campaign
Recovery Cards Project
Addiction can affect anyone and no-one has to face it alone. The "Lift The Label" campaign is a Colorado-based public awareness campaign that changes the face of recovery to POSSIBLE. The campaign was developed by the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Behavioral Health and is funded through a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. Lift The Label has created "The Recovery Card Project" recovery- themed greeting cards created by local artists affirming that recovery is within reach and there is a powerful community willing to help and support . I was one of the chosen artists invited to participate in this important movement. Help Lift the Label of Addiction, it can happen to anyone and anyone can get help.
Spread the Love
My desire as an artist is to create a better connection to one’s self. I focus on the emotional experience that art and nature have the power to unlock. Nature can inspire us, open our hearts and minds and connect us to who we are.
